About C.A. Richards

Representing offshore and subsea technology manufacturers from Houston, Texas since 1971 — with the technical depth and long-term relationships that make the difference.

Our Story

Over 50 Years at the Center of Offshore Technology

C.A. Richards has been connecting offshore and subsea operators with best-in-class technology since 1971 — delivering integrated equipment solutions from manufacturers whose products we've personally evaluated and stand behind. We are a Houston-based offshore and subsea technology provider and authorized representative for leading technology manufacturers. That distinction matters: our value is in the relationships, the technical knowledge, and the local support we bring to every engagement.

Over five decades, we've built relationships — with manufacturers, with customers, and with the broader ocean technology community — that are measured in years and decades, not quarters. That longevity isn't accidental. It reflects a consistent commitment to representing only the technologies we believe in, and to providing the kind of technical support that makes us genuinely useful to the people we work with.

Today, C.A. Richards represents 15 manufacturer partners across 6 solution categories, serving customers across offshore energy, subsea robotics, marine construction, ocean science, offshore wind, and defense — all from our Houston base, where the offshore industry lives.

What We Stand For

How We Do Business

These aren't marketing statements. They're the principles that have guided C.A. Richards for over 50 years.

Selective Representation

We don't represent everything. We represent manufacturers whose products we believe in — companies with proven track records, strong engineering, and real offshore experience.

Technical Partnership

We're not order-takers. We understand the applications, the environments, and the engineering challenges our customers face — and we help them find the right solution, not just any solution.

Long-Term Relationships

Our manufacturer relationships span decades. Our customer relationships do too. We build trust by being honest, responsive, and genuinely invested in the success of every project.

Community Investment

We believe in giving back to the ocean technology community that has supported us for over 50 years — through the Marine Technology Society and our scholarship program.

Community Involvement

Invested in the Ocean Technology Community

C.A. Richards has been an active member and supporter of the professional organizations that connect engineers, scientists, operators, and industry leaders advancing the state of the art in marine and subsea technology.

C.A. Richards has been an active member and supporter of the MTS Houston Section for many years. The MTS is the premier professional organization for ocean technology professionals — connecting engineers, scientists, operators, and industry leaders advancing the state of the art in marine and subsea technology.

Through the Houston Section, C.A. Richards participates in technical events, industry forums, and community programs that keep us connected to the people and ideas shaping the future of offshore and ocean technology.

The Hydrographic Society of America

The Hydrographic Society of America

Houston & SE Sections

C.A. Richards is proud to support The Hydrographic Society of America, the professional organization dedicated to advancing the science and practice of hydrography in the United States and beyond.

THSOA connects hydrographic surveyors, ocean mapping professionals, and the broader marine geospatial community — disciplines that are central to the offshore and subsea industries we serve every day.

MATE ROV Competition

MATE ROV Competition

Supporting the Next Generation

C.A. Richards is proud to support the MATE ROV Competition, which challenges students from middle school through college to design, build, and operate underwater robots — developing the next generation of ocean technology professionals.

The competition inspires students to pursue careers in marine science, engineering, and technology — exactly the fields that drive the offshore and subsea industry forward.

Giving Back

The C.A. Richards Scholarship

C.A. Richards established a scholarship program to support the next generation of ocean technology professionals. Administered through the Marine Technology Society Houston Section, the scholarship provides financial support to students pursuing degrees in marine engineering, ocean engineering, oceanography, and related fields.

To date, the C.A. Richards Scholarship has awarded over $200,000 to deserving students — helping them pursue careers in the offshore and ocean technology industry that we've been part of for more than 50 years.

We believe that investing in the next generation of ocean technology professionals is one of the most important things we can do for the long-term health of this industry. The scholarship is our way of making that investment tangible.
